Tim Walker

Tim Walker’s photographs have been entrancing the readers of Vogue for over a decade. Doses of extravagance and romantic motifs characterise his unmistakable style.

Upon graduating in 1994, Walker worked as a freelance photography assistant in London and then moved to New York City to serve as a full-time assistant to Richard Avedon. Upon returning to England, he initially concentrated on portrait and documentary work for UK newspapers. At 25, he shot his first fashion story for Vogue, and has been photographing for the British, Italian, and American editions ever since.

The Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Portrait Gallery in London both house Tim's photography in their permanent collections. He staged his first major exhibition at the Design Museum in London in the spring of 2008, coinciding with the publication of his book PICTURES (teNeues 2008).

In November 2008 Walker received the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator from The British Fashion Council and, in May 2009, he received an infinity award from The International Center of Photography in New York for his work as a fashion photographer. In 2010, Tim was a winner of an ASME Award for his East Enders portfolio for W Magazine.

After 15 years of work in photography, Tim is now also making films. His first short, THE LOST EXPLORER (2010), premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland and went on to win best short film at Chicago United Film Festival, 2011.

Tim lives in London.
