Simon Lowe

Simon Lowe is one of the leading UK’s sports book writers.

As a loyal supporter of Stoke City Football Club for almost 50 years, and also working in television as a BAFTA-award winning editor for almost 20 years, Simon co-produced many videos and DVDs about the club before going on to write or ghost many books/auto-biographies, including for Potters heroes Denis Smith, Eric Skeels and Terry Conroy. He has been fortunate enough to combine his love of history and sport, and continued to do so in his weekly column in The Sentinel, the local newspaper in Stoke-on-Trent, for over 20 years.

His new book is 'To Cap It All: the autobiography of John Rudge' and was published by Pitch Publishing in October 2023. This laugh-out-loud memoir details the incredible career of a Potteries football legend who managed Port Vale for 15 years, leading them to many famous giant killing triumphs, three promotions and three Wembley appearances, before then moving across the city to rivals Stoke, where he acted as Director of Football alongside managers such as Gary Megson, Gudjon Thordarson, Johan Boskamp and Tony Pulis, alongside whom John oversaw the Potters’ rise to the Premier League.

Simon has also written and edited a range of sports books, including on the England football team, cricket, rugby league and is currently writing the musical version of his series entitled ‘Betty's War’, all about his grandmother's experiences in the Second World War.
