Paul L. Hedge

My name is Paul L Hedge and I am the author of 'Maurice'. It is unashamedly a feel good story with stacks of humour. It is what I would call a 'black comedy' with the main character just happening to be a dentist. Please don't be put off by the fact that the story revolves around a dental practice in the 1960's, because there is no need for the reader to have any dental knowledge to enjoy it.

(The original title for my novel was 'Open Wide Please!' but I've realised that with a picture of a younger me working on a patient on the front cover made it look like a dental handbook! Which it certainly isn't! So I've changed the title and taken the opportunity to update it.)

It is the life story of a six foot six, Neanderthal looking, dope smoking, heavy drinking, child hating, homophobic, and bigoted but very loveable rogue of a dentist, who discovers that when he is smashed out of his mind on dope, he becomes psychic. The story is of course totally fictitious!

This is my first novel, although I have written a number of stage plays which have been performed up and down the country.
