Steve Mingle

Steve is a long-term Manchester City supporter who attended his first game in 1967 and has been a season-ticket holder for several decades. His first book on City was published in 2004 and he's produced further titles at regular intervals since then, spanning the whole period from the 1960s to the present day. He always tries to inject humour into his work; historically this has largely been at (Typical) City's expense but more recently the prime target has become our delightful neighbours from Trafford. This has been a most enjoyable development although it does mean that his books have to be scanned meticulously for libel prior to publication.

Over the last few years Steve has taken up performance poetry, and he can often be found in and around Manchester at spoken word, comedy and open mic nights, swearing at strangers from behind a microphone. He enjoys most other sports, with the notable and emphatic exception of Rugby Union, and has a real passion for live music and vintage vinyl. He's one of Frank Sidebottom's most devoted fans and is also qualified to be a sommelier, although the thought of serving wine to other people rather than drinking it himself holds no appeal whatsoever.
