Chris Woollams

Chris Woollams has a degree in Biochemistry from Oxford University. In 2001 his daughter developed a brain tumour and was given 6 months to live. Both Chris and Catherine searched the world for cancer treatments and discovered that there was so much information 'out there' but it was not being passed on. As a result they felt people were not so much dying of cancer, but of ignorance! They determined to do something about it. They founded CANCERactive, a charity with a big difference. It doesn't just cover orthodox therapies but has extensive coverage of complementary and alternative therapies too. With over 3200 pages the web site (www.canceractive.com) receives 2400 to 5000 hits a day! And there is icon (Integrated Cancer and Oncology News) - a magazine free in over 600 UK Cancer Centres.

Chris is editor of the CANCERactive web site, and the reserarch centre (Cancer Watch), plus the magazine.

His aim is to empower people whether they have cancer or not, to help them make more informed personal choices about their lifestyle and so help them 'beat' cancer, a disease that soon will affect one in two people at some time in their lives.

He regularly contributes articles from all the research that comes across his desk; and the books are another outlet of his extensive knowledge.
