Harry Howell was born in Margate, Kent (1932). Poor grammar school scholar and emigrated, with family, to South Africa in 1948. Was professional jazz musician (drums and vibes). Early interest in hypnosis. Left in 1951 to join navy. Guard on Rhodesia Railways, had adventures with lions, before moving to Canada. Back to England to start serious studies - psychology and hypnotherapy. Went on to study biochemistry and clinical nutrition at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, and received a doctorate in Health Education at Harley University, London. Since then, he has studied homoeopathy, acupuncture, colon therapies, manual lymph drainage, kinesiology, lasertherapy, tropical medicine, mycology and Ayurvedic. He set up the first Candida Clinic in the world in 1982, and has worked in hospitals in the Indian sub-continent and lectured in hospitals and countries worldwide. Until 1991 he practised at the Hale Clinic and in Harley Street. His accolades include Physician of the Year, 1992, Practitioner of the Year, 1992 (UK), Dag Hammarskjold United Nations Merit of Excellence (Paris), Practitioner of the Century, 1999, Acupuncturist of the Year (Beijing) 1999, and many others. In his spare time, he mixed with spies (George Blake, Peter Kroger, and others), gangsters, film stars and directors, opera singers, ambassadors, and royalty. All his writing is drawn from experience and personal knowledge.
