Born in Greenwich, London, David Ramzan has always had a keen interest in the history of his hometown and studied local history as an Undergraduate at the University of Oxford. A self-employed graphic designer, illustrator and artist, he also worked in special educational needs and has written several historical publications and articles for magazines and periodicals, subjects which include maritime and football history, piracy, smuggling and Victorian crime.

During his time in the creative design and media business, David has worked as a visualiser, illustrator and art director on various promotions, marketing and advertising campaigns.

Through his love of sport, specifically football, David is a supporter of Charlton Athletic the club close to where he was born, after qualifying as a football coach he formed a children's disability football club so his eldest son, who has a visually impairment, could play team football, later to be joined by his younger brother and occasionally their sister too.

It was through his close associations with Charlton football club that David produced his first publication, a pictorial history of Charlton Athletic, and from this initial venture into publishing, he has gone on to write a series of local history books and magazine articles.

Although David continued to work in creative design on a freelance basis, he was able to devote some of his time to football coaching part-time with Charlton Athletic's community programme, and through disability football, had the opportunity to take on the role as a sports coach and learning support assistant, working for several years at a local school for students with special educational needs.

With David's enthusiasm for local, national and social history, whether writing about his hometown of Greenwich, the football club he supports or the factual and fictional smuggler gangs of Romney Marsh, more fascinating and intriguing publications are due to follow.
