Lois Maharg

Lois Maharg started her career teaching English to immigrants, coauthoring a pair of ESL textbooks and working freelance as a travel writer. She then became a full-time journalist. She covered Latino affairs, education, health, and food for newspapers in Pennsylvania and Michigan, and she won awards for investigative reporting and feature stories on health and social issues.

Her lifelong struggle with insomnia motivated her to write her book, The Savvy Insomniac: A Personal Journey through Science to Better Sleep, a finalist in the 2014 National Indie Excellence Awards. The Savvy Insomniac is also the name of her blog, where she continues to share news and views about insomnia and sleep.
