My introduction to writing was amidst the mortars, RPGs and small arms fire of Iraq whilst on tour. Can you imagine not being able to read? Yet there are young adults out there who are in that situation. I started to write to get young soldiers I was working with interested in books. I never envisaged where the journey would take me. First book published in 2008 and then a literary award nomination. However I write for enjoyment and along the way I have not forgotten the reason I started. Fifty percent of my royalties go to the National Literacy Trust, whilst on the Kindle edition I am donating all the royalties to that very worthwhile charity. My second book was published last year and now I am writing semi-full time. My wife though insists that if I do not make any money by Summer next year I have to get a job. Best stop donating all of my royalties then.
