Neil Ohlenkamp

Mr. Ohlenkamp is widely recognized as a leader in the teaching and promotion of Judo. He is an 8th degree black belt and has enjoyed teaching judo and jujutsu classes in Southern California since 1973. He has also taught clinics and trained athletes on five continents. Mr. Ohlenkamp has been certified by the United States Judo Association as an instructor, referee, rank examiner, national coach, and coaching instructor.

Mr. Ohlenkamp was the Head Instructor of the Encino Judo Club for three decades, as well as Head Judo Coach for the Braille Institute of America and the United States Association of Blind Athletes. Mr. Ohlenkamp successfully coached the visually impaired U.S. Judo Team competing at the 1988 Paralympic Games and 1990 World Championships.

As a pioneer in promoting judo online, Mr. Ohlenkamp created the popular Judo Information Site helping over 15 million visitors learn about Judo over the 18 years he developed it.

Neil Ohlenkamp wrote the first full-color instructional book covering all the techniques of Kodokan Judo. Published in 2006, Judo Unleashed was a worldwide hit. An expanded version, Judo Unleashed!, was published by Tuttle Publishing in 2024.
