I am the author of CHRISTOPHE'S STORY and ARMEL'S REVENGE. In the first book, a young asylum-seeker from Rwanda tells his classmates the story of how he came to leave his country. In the second book, Armel, an asylum seeker from Congo, joins the class and takes an immediate dislike to Christophe: this is a story about the poison of the past, and how it can affect the generations to come. Both stories are fast-reading and accessible, universal and transgenerational. CHRISTOPHE'S STORY is being used in primary schools for literacy, PSHE and Citizenship; and both books are being used in secondary schools for Holocaust and Genocide education.
These two stories grew out of my experiences of interpreting for asylum seekers and refugees and hearing the terrible stories they had to tell; and I hope that my books will provoke compassion for the plight of those who have to abandon their own countries and seek shelter elsewhere.
Norwegian language editions are now available; titled ARRET (THE SCAR or CHRISTOPHE'S STORY) and ARMEL'S HEVN (ARMEL'S REVENGE).
