Stephen Armstrong

Stephen Armstrong is a journalist and author. He writes for the Sunday Times, the Daily Telegraph, Wired and the Guardian. He has written six non-fiction books: The White Island (Bantam 2004), War plc (Faber & Faber 2008), The Super Rich Shall Inherit the Earth (Constable & Robinson 2010), The Road to Wigan Pier Revisited (Constable & Robinson 2012), The New Poverty (Verso, 2017) and Picture Britain (JRF, 2020). He founded the Wigan Pier Workshops with English PEN, is a trustee of the Orwell Foundation and a fellow of the RSA. Inevitably he has a screenplay in development, where he confidently expects it to remain.
