Sergio Scandizzo

Sergio Scandizzo is a seasoned banker and author, specializing in risk management and financial governance. He is currently Adjunct Professor at the University of Luxembourg. Sergio worked for more than twenty years at the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg where he held senior risk management positions. His professional journey includes roles such as Principal at PricewaterhouseCoopers in London and Senior Manager in the Global Risk Advisory team at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Toronto.

Sergio is the author of several influential works, including The Operational Risk Manager’s Guide, Validation and Use Test in AMA, and The Validation of Risk Models. He also contributed to the award-winning Advanced Measurement Approach to Operational Risk. His book Risk and Governance: A Framework for Banking Organisations explores the integration of risk management and corporate governance in modern banking. His latest book is Climate-related Financial Risk, co-authored with Tony Hughes.

He is Associate Editor of The Journal of Operational Risk and was recognized as one of the "Top 50" Face of Operational Risk by OpRisk & Compliance Magazine. He has published several journal papers on fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms and risk management. He studied in Italy and in the United States and holds advanced degrees in computer science and finance.

In addition to his professional and academic activities, Sergio works with the Agence de Transfert de Technologie Financière (ATTF) to support microfinance institutions in Africa, promoting sustainable financial practices and capacity building across the continent.
