Darron E. Childs

Darron E. Childs is an author, historian and speaker based in Lincolnshire.

He holds an MA from the University of Hull and has spent more than three decades researching the history of the Trent Valley, the Viking Age and the Anglo-Scandinavian world.

His historical work has appeared in numerous publications, and he currently writes a monthly history feature for Life magazine, exploring the relationship between people, place and memory. In 2020 he was selected as the featured British historian for the Danish television series The Voyage, an eight-part documentary made in collaboration with the National Museum of Denmark, covering the episode marking the Danish invasion of 1013.

Alongside his historical research, Darron writes literary fiction rooted in documented history, memory and landscape. His completed debut novel, Yesterday Once More, is currently being submitted for literary representation. The Last Prophecy, adapted from its concluding chapter, is a self-contained story set in the aftermath of King Sweyn Forkbeard's death in England in 1014.

He is also completing Where the River Meets the Sea, a work of narrative non-fiction exploring forgotten histories, landscape and remembrance across England and Scandinavia.
