Rachel Morris

I am the author of ‘The Years of the Wizard’, the story of Renaissance magic, starring (but not confined to) the extraordinary life of Dr Dee, and also his wife and children. If you ever read children’s books featuring magic when you were little; if you have ever loved the Renaissance, Tudor England, old libraries, Susannah Clarke’s fantasy novels, and the magic of early books; and if you are intrigued by the astonishingly widespread belief in magic back then, then this is the book for you. I also wrote ‘The Museum Makers’, which was inspired by 15 years of making museums round the world. ‘The Years of the Wizard’ (published by Duckworth, October 2025) is endorsed by Ronald Hutton, Tracy Borman and Marion Gibson. I also write, give talks and offer podcast interviews on all things Renaissance Magic. You can reach me on Instagram at rachelmorris_writer
