...writing created scope and freedom, whereas, martial arts were fundamental and practical. The two contrasting hemispheres of fact and fiction, allowed for an unrestricted personal development. This brought a healthy balance between my wondering mind, and the realism of life. Reflecting on the past always led to allegories. Anticipation of the future likewise led to inventiveness. My feelings vented themselves in fabulous characters. Like a psychopath, I intervened on fictional lives, and made them do wonderful and despicable things, which gave me incredible pleasure. Conversely, martial arts presented a wall of realism, in which there was no space for fiction. Personal inadequacy stood out, and fierce hard work dispensed with the fainthearted in the course of emphasising self-discipline and dedication... Because of this I shall continue to write and produce books published or otherwise...

As guest in someone's home we are treated with courtesy and respect. On occasions, when we leave we take with us something special, some familiar quality. With the martial arts I am a guest in the home of history, respectfully sharing a culture and tradition with a particular flavour that has a universal appeal.

The pen has always been, and will continue to be mightier than the sword, because intelligent people look beyond the script to see the indelible message that stamps not just the mind, but the heart and soul also. So it is with the flourish of techniques; beyond their imperious hand is the spirit of Budo...
