Lori Erickson

From a childhood on an Iowa farm, Lori Erickson grew up to become one of America’s leading travel writers specializing in spiritual journeys. Her books explore the intersections of travel, spirituality, creativity, and the search for meaning.

Her newest book, Travels with the Muse: A Creative Pilgrimage, journeys to places where art and spirit meet, exploring what happens when we approach creativity not as experts, but as beginners willing to pay attention.

Lori is also the author of Every Step Is Home, The Soul of the Family Tree, Near the Exit, and Holy Rover. Her writing has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, National Geographic Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and other publications, and she has been featured on Travel with Rick Steves and The Frommer’s Travel Show.

She lives in Iowa City with her husband, photographer Bob Sessions, and can often be found with a sketchbook in hand—proof that it’s never too late to become a beginner again.
