Ken Fox

Ken Fox was born in Wales and now lives in in happy retirement in Hampshire. In a varied career, he has taught in schools and universities, served as an officer in the British Army, and run his own training and consultancy business.

Apart from writing his own books and reading the works of other authors, he spends much of his time pottering about the house and garden under the patient direction of his wife, Jan. They also have their own personal fitness trainer - their working cocker spaniel, Dylan - who ensures that they take two long walks a day, regardless of the weather.

In creating the main characters for the Charlie Piper series, Ken drew his inspiration from his grandchildren, although he would not want them to think that these fictional characters are anything but wild exaggerations of their own personalities! Similarly, in the Sir Lionel series, the two main young characters, Jimmy and Hannah Louise, are based on two of his grandchildren. Yes, he does have a lot of grandchildren!

In writing the Sir Lionel series, Ken has aimed at a slightly older readership and has provided notes at the end of each book to explain the historical and mythical context of his stories.
