Georg Voros

Georg Voros is a renowned drummer and teacher with a wealth of international experience. As a drum clinician he has performed at events with drummers such as Marco Minnemann, Jojo Mayer and Dom Famularo. Georg is also an author and his first book ‘Rhythm of the Head’ is endorsed by drummers such as Carl Palmer, Bill Bruford, Virgil Donati and Gary Husband.

Georg began turning heads with his unique brand of drumming in the early 80’s when he became a founder member of cult South African band ‘eVoid’ - In 2007 he recorded the eVoid album “Graffiti Lounge’ in London. The years following the early eVoid experience proved very varied and after working with award winning South African solo artist Neill Solomon, Georg departed for the UK.

This proved a fruitful move resulting in Georg being presented with a ‘Best Band’ award with top British country act “The Stu Page Band’. He played on Black Star Liner’s 1999 album ‘Bengali Bantam Youth Experience’ nominated for a Mercury Music Prize ‘Best Album’ Award. Georg also worked with Nashville country star and Grammy nominee Gail Davies and toured with legendary British band Smokie. Around this time Georg also played with many other musicians and producers with links to bands and artists such as, Tom Jones, Vanessa Mae, Level 42, Evelyn Glennie, Tom Robinson, Osibisa, Go West, Albert Lee and Duran Duran.

In 1995 Georg released his first book ‘Rhythm of the Head’ positively affecting many drummers around the world. The book recently found a fresh audience when it was updated with new content and the Foreword contributed by Global Drumming Ambassador Dom Famularo. Georg is now once again inspiring artists and specifically non-artists with his new book ‘Creating… Performance Excellence’.

In 2010 Georg was approached by top Californian based sound engineer Rob Gainey to contribute toward his book 'Rockin Your Stage Sound'. Georg contributed Pro Tips and a specially composed Foreword. The book features great info supplied by artists, producers and engineers who have worked with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Aerosmith, Frank Zappa, Asia, Great White, etc.

Georg returned to South Africa in 2003 and revealed a dormant entrepreneurial spirit. Together with his wife Lynne they founded South Africa’s first magazine for drummers - drums&percussionSA. They also launched South Africa’s first major drumming event 'The Johannesburg Drumfest'. Georg became the first drummer in South Africa to undertake a double drum clinic tour with Dom Famularo. He was also the first drummer in South Africa to undertake a seven date drum clinic tour in 2011. Another first for Georg was becoming the first international Mapex Drums endorser in the whole of Africa.

Georg’s positive message in his books continues to inspire and has naturally led to him becoming increasingly involved in the area of motivational presenting. He has created a 1 day ‘Life changing’ hands-on workshop and a corporate motivational presentation based on his new book 'Creating… Performance Excellence'. Expanding even further he now also offers an interactive Skype presentation of this presentation.

Georg is currently highly involved in education via his well established in-demand drum school in Johannesburg, South Africa with his reach expanding globally via his newly introduced online Skype lessons.Georg He holds two degree level qualifications in Music Performance and Music Teaching gained with Distinction.

Georg endorses Sabian cymbals, Mapex drums, Vater drumsticks, Evans drumheads and Roland Electronic percussion.
