Peter Tye (Peter Geoffrey Tye) joined the Royal Navy at the age of 15 and served for 8 years. On leaving he managed to secure a junior place in the Mars Sales Force. 12 years later his sales and marketing experience and creativity was recognised by an agency and he was offered an Associate Directorship in Film & Audio Visual. Later, having noted scripts he wrote were more likely to meet a client’s brief, he set-up ‘Tyelines’ in a Fleet Street office, to offer a writing service to business. His many corporate clients were only a brisk walk away in the City of London. In 1993 he was introduced to Colin Reeder, a watercolour artist who created the Little Red Tractor Stories. Peter produced them in a video format with Brian Glover narrating. When it was released they soon realised they had a hit on their hands, but sadly, Colin died the following year. To keep Little Red Tractor’s wheels turning, Peter wrote new stories which eventually created the required number of episodes for a series on ITV2. Following that exposure, it was developed, in a new format, for 75 episodes, and worldwide TV distribution, airing first on Cbeebies. Peter continued to write, but more as a hobby than a business. Including a book which he wrote under the pseudonym E.V. Daymuir, he published his 25th title, in June 2026 on his 89th birthday.
