Ted L. Simpson

Greetings,

My name is Ted Simpson, Cengage Author and Computer Science Instructor for University of Wisconsin Colleges. Over the years I have written a number of computer science textbooks starting with books on Novell NetWare back in the 1990s. As the industry changed, I wrote books on Windows operating systems and more recently books on virtual computing.

I feel my strength as a writer comes from having a teaching background combined with the ability to take complex topics and make them understandable. I believe it is hard to understand something that you do not have any experience using. With that in mind, you will find the books I write are loaded with examples and activities that give you a chance to work with the concepts, technologies, and products you are learning about.

In addition to being a teacher and writer, I have been president of the Wisconsin Maple Syrup Producers Association, and enjoy the outdoors including sports like sailing, fishing, traveling, and cross country skiing. I hope my years as a teacher and writer combined with a variety of life experiences will provide the practical background you need to expand your technical knowledge and skills.
