Nancy A. Schenck was born and raised in the Lower Ninth Ward, a working class neighborhood in New Orleans, LA. She worked as a nurse for thirteen years before following her passion for the written word. Taking a leap of faith, Nancy moved to New York and started working at Random House. She spent ten years there during the heady days of publishing (late '80s and '90s) in the Trade Sales division and then in the Children's Publishing division. Still restless and trying to decide what she wanted to be when she grew up, Nancy moved to Los Angeles in 1998 and was editor of a magazine for a nonprofit organization. In 2005, someone made her an offer she couldn't refuse and she now calls Las Vegas her home. She is currently the managing editor for a small independent publisher there.
Nancy is in long-term recovery, which means she hasn't used alcohol or other drugs for 27 years. She is mother to one son (Jason) and grandmother to one granddaughter (Alexandra). She and her partner, Tony, are the proud "parents" of Sophie, a lab mix they rescued in 2006.
She's still working on growing up...
