Rose Melville

Rose Melville was born in Port Hedland, Western Australia to Anglo-Australian parents. The family lived in Papua New Guinea and various Australia states during her childhool and teenage years. Her parents finally settled in Brisbane, Queensland (aged 16 years) where she completed high school. One of Rose's great grandfathers (Edward Heath) fought in the US Civil War for the North, and migrated to Australia with his Dutch/Navaho Indian wife at its conclusion to start a new life. Edward's 8 brothers fought for the South during the US Civil War. Other members of Rose's family came to Australia from France, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Holland.

Rose completed her undergradate social work education at the University of Queeensland and her postgraduate (PhD) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Rose has taught on sociology, social policy and social work at 4 Australian Universities. Her specialist research field is the impact on policy on non-profits (non-government organizations).

Rose is interested in international relations, public and social policy, crrent affairs, reading, pilates and walking.
