Timothy M. Johnson

I have a lot of passions in my life. Swimming, sailing, working, teaching, electronics and occasionally I will get the bright idea that maybe I could write something that would be informative, useful, and entertaining for the reading public. Life helped out quite a bit by providing me with opportunities to expand my horizons. I can't help but credit the Lord for my good (and bad) fortune. I think it all came together in Marriage Encounter for me. I should write a book about that experience.

In the photo above I was trying on a Russian hat in an indoor market in Budapest, Hungary, in October, 2009, while I was at an American Society of Engineering Educators conference. That's about all that is left of the Russian influence in that wonderful country. Everything else they are tearing down because it was trash when you compare it to their historical culture.

The rest of my biography for the data happy readers:

Born in 1947 as the second child of a returning WWII veteran just in time to help peak the baby boom of the late 1940's at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, California, USA.

My family moved a few years later to Fontana, making me a Southern California transplant.

Graduating at 17 from Fontana High School in 1964 with a free ride to college at one of our nation's military academies: US Merchant Marine Academy.

Left school at 20 to marry and began earning a living working for the New York Telephone Company.

I helped raised six children and my oldest sons threw some phenomenal parties in the 80's at our home in Port Washington, NY, USA.

I finished my undergraduate degree at a great college for the working adult: Empire State College. They really train you to focus on your goals otherwise you won't finish anything.

After I retired from the phone company I then finished the second of two Master degrees. a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and began working as a junior engineer in product development in Boston, Massachusetts in 1997.

I have achieved many lifetime goals: becoming a husband and father, retired after 26 years with the telephone company going on to becoming a licensed maritime captain, a licensed FCC radio engineer, a professional engineer, PE, licensed in Massachusetts, a college professor (Wentworth Institute of Technology, 2000-2015), owner of my own startup: Infrared Medical Technology, attaining a PhD, and holder of patents based my dissertation, and author of multiple books.
