Howard Potter holds a master's degree in film studies from Northwestern University, and was an independent filmmaker and educational media producer many moons ago. He has spent the last thirty years earning his living as a business writer and institutional investment manager. He lives with his wife in Mount Kisco, NY, and Richmond, MA. They have two grown children.
Animation of the First Degree is Howard's first published novel. Its main character produces an assortment of animated films as a special hobby. He would have likely screened the theatrical releases of modern digital animation studios, but this character did not live at a time of constant cell phone connection nor did he have access to advanced graphic devices. He therefore made his films the old fashion way: he drew them, making an artistic statement hand-by-hand, cel-by-cel, and sequence-by-sequence. His five major works are described in full treatments and detailed illustrations scattered throughout the novel.
