Chuck Ballard

Chuck Ballard is a current Registered Professional Engineer in California and Pennsylvania. He worked over 39 years for two Fortune 500 companies, and with many others along the way.

He has a BS degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. His specialties are nuclear instrumentation and control, control room design, human factors engineering, and computer data acquisition.

He has been chairman of the Human Factors Division of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) and a member of the Board of Directors of ANS.

He currently resides in Emmaus, Pennsylvania with his wife, a dog and a cat, and won't begin to tell you where he fits in that pecking order. He has two children: a daughter who is a Dr. specializing in Maternal & Fetal Medicine, and a son who is a public school music teacher and band director.

His hobbies are reading (primarily science fiction), gardening and computers. He has a collection of over 200 science fiction novels, and a modest collection of early personal computers.

He has been an elected School Director for the East Penn School District for nearly 14 years and has been active as a member of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association and the National School Boards Association.

His family motto is "Non illegitimi carborundum". Not the real Latin of Miss Ketchum's class in Battle Creek Central High School, but the sentiment is heartfelt.

Like Diogenes, he is still out seeking a leader, honestly. His wife and his 90-year-old mother both read "A Leadership Vacuum" and enjoyed it.
