Fredda J. Burton

Fredda J. Burton [Anderson] was born in Deadwood, South Dakota. She went to school through the 7th grade in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. She moved to Pasco, Washington in 1955 and graduated from PHS in 1960. A year at Columbia Basin College, marriage to Theodore Burton, three years at WSU Pullman where she received her BA followed. Then she was off to Edmonton, Alberta and Vancouver, BC for two years before settling down at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale where she received MFA degrees in Art and creative writing while working as a scientific illustrator and teacher. During that 30 year span of time she also lived in Hungary, Spain, and Italy.

While in Southern Illinois the Burtons lived on a 200 acre farm and raised most of their own food. From about 1984 to the present they made two or more trips a year to Europe, China, Japan, or Fiji including three visits to Sweden to research family history and customs.

In 1998 they sold the farm and moved to Port Angeles, Washington where they have continued their various activities. Fredda has written a historical novel titled "The Chocolate Set: A Swedish Journey" and its sequel called "Ellis Island to the Last Best West."
