Cappy Hall Rearick

Syndicated columnist Cappy Hall Rearick is an award winning short story writer and author of six novels, one creative non-fiction book, one memoir and ten short story collections. She has authored five successful columns: Alive and Well in Hollywood; Tidings; Simply Southern; Simply Senior and Puttin' on the Gritz. She is the author of the popular Glad Girls mystery series, three senior women living in a small NC town. She is currently writing a new series featuring three women "of a certain age," who manage to get in a lot of trouble.

Rearick has served as president and also Board of Directors member of the Southeastern Writers Association and is a former member of the Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Board of Directors. She holds memberships in the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, Georgia Writers Association, South Carolina Writers and North Carolina Writers Association. Highlighted by the Erma Bombeck Writers as a Humor Writer of the Month, Rearick's short fiction and humor have been featured in anthologies throughout the United States and Europe.

Rearick attended the University of South Carolina, Chicago School of Interior Design and Penn State University. She is a former American Airlines Flight Attendant, an Interior Decorator, a kindergarten teacher and a so-so actress. In her much earlier adult years, she was given the Outstanding Young Women of America Award.

Rearick has twice been nominated for the prestigious Georgia Author of the Year Award.

Two years after her first collection of columns, SIMPLY SOUTHERN, was published, a collection of holiday short stories, SIMPLY CHRISTMAS, came out. The third in the Simply Series, SIMPLY SOUTHERN EASE was then published June, 2006.

Cappy is the mother of two South Carolina sons and she has five grandsons, affectionately known in the Simply Series as the Grandkids from Hell. She also has four granddaughters tenderly referred to as The Little Women. Igor, a cat with an eating disorder, that until recently shared space in her home with the whiniest cat on the planet, Sophie Sorrowful. The two of them rounded out the Rearick family dynamic.

Cappy Hall Rearick, formerly of St. Simons Island, now resides in the historic Saluda, North Carolina town that time forgot. She lives on Memory Lane with her husband, Bill, aka Babe in many of her books and columns.
