Cathy Crenshaw Doheny

Cathy Crenshaw Doheny is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and has sung with numerous regional opera companies. Equally at home in the literary world, she specializes in creative nonfiction, as well as nonfiction pieces focusing on the arts, parenting and medical topics. She is the Winner of the Kaixin Inaugural Writing Competition and Runner-Up in the Southwestern Writers International Writing Competition.

A freelance journalist, Cathy's work has been published by Adoption Today Magazine, Faith and Family Magazine, Liver Health Today, and Neurology Now. She is currently a contributing writer for Asian Fortune News and The Charlotte Observer's University City Magazine. Her creative nonfiction pieces have been published in numerous anthologies, including "A Cup of Comfort for Mothers," "Pets Across America 2" and "Root Exposure - New Voices in Literature."

Cathy is the "Famous Operas" contributing writer for "The Daily Book of Classical Music" released by Walter Foster Publishing in October of 2010. In 2011, she also had the honor of having her work published in the National Council for Adoption's "Adoption Fact Book", the most comprehensive source of adoption facts and statistics available.
