D Montgomery MacLean

D Montgomery MacLean is a former software developer, and even more former university researcher, merchant-navy officer, diver, fisherman, journalist, truck driver, ice-cream seller, ditch-digger, entertainer and factory worker.

He spent his youth in a Canadian environment similar to the one described in this novel, although it is not autobiographical.

He is neither Jewish nor homosexual. He does, however, suffer from remissive left-handedness.
