Bernhard Kleine

Bernhard Kleine (*1952) has been born in Duisburg at a time when heavy pollution from coal mining and processing and from chemical industry was accepted as usual. His parents are a surgeon and an businesswoman. He got chemical training at the University of Dortmund before he prepared his Ph.D. thesis on endotoxin catabolism in the Max-Planck-Institute in Freiburg. After several years at the Pasteur-Institute in Paris he persued his studies at the Universities of Tübingen and Freiburg about the polyclonal stimulation of B lymphocytes. Later he switched to endocrinology and became senior scientist in the laboratory of Winfried G. Rossmanith at the Universities of Ulm and Karlsruhe. Actually he is working in a clinical research organisation close to Basel.
