Robert Siller Jr.

It's important that I tell you something about myself and what inspired me to write this book. I was less than a year old in 1944 when my parents left the northern rural community of Richwood, Louisiana in search of better employment and social living conditions. Their search led them to Alameda, California. Like the majority of African American families, our family was held together with love, faith, determination, and a desire to make the best of any given situation. From this lifestyle, I developed a character of goodwill from my mother and the strength of my father to support it. Even though I was brought up in a Christian home, I am more into the present rather than the hereafter. Having said that, I try as much as possible to be neutral when it comes to the different religions in the world, and just about everything else in life! The way I see it, everybody is trying to get through life the best way they know how, and the very least we can do as members of the society is to respect their beliefs or disbeliefs as long as it does not affect the society in a negative way!
