An incomplete Harvard education in astronomy, a some-time associate of the Tonoho O'odham people, an occasional independent investor, an amateur naturalist who has studied coyotes and wolves--someone who speaks for the ultrahuman--and a burgeoning author of Tropomorphoses and Night Wolves.

She says: "Mostly, when I read other poets, I think that they didn't study enough astronomy, didn't get their knees scratched trying to follow earthworms, haven't caught cold watching it snow on their hands, haven't shaped their body to the bole of a tree or crawled along a deer path through thickets--bend or become still or small. I want to speak to these experiences."
