Rick Lawton

Rick Lawton has worked as a computer programmer, ESL teacher, trainer, and technical writer and has advanced degrees from the UofI and the Sorbonne in history and linguistics. He always wanted to write fiction and found his first compelling subject in Manhattan where he lived in a small hotel in a gentrifying district and saw the fight for keeping your home up close. His first novel, The Rex, features an escalating struggle between a ruthless developer and the hotel’s offbeat and resilient tenants. Since the publication of The Rex, Rick has written two more novels and two books of short stories. Rick lives in San Francisco with his long-term partner Sally.
