Charles Rodenbough

Born in Westchester County, NY in 1932, Rodenbough's parents were both from Pennsylvania. In 1938, the family, including his older brother, Leigh, moved to North Carolina. Charles' mother died there in 1945. He graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in Winston Salem in 1950 and from the University of North Carolina in 1954. He married Jeannette B. Green in 1955 after joining the US Air Force. Together they went to Bremerhaven, Germany where he served in the Security Service as an anaylist of radio transmissions of the Russian Air Defense System. They traveled extensively. He left the Air Force in 1958 with plans for Charlie to return to Carolina to work on a doctorate in history planning to teach. Although accepted into the program, he was persuaded to go into partnership in Madison, NC in the Real Estate and Insurance business. Later he took a position with Burlingto Madison Yarn Company as Director of Planning for the division. In 1984 he went into partnership and bought three franchise offices of Travel Agents International in Greensboro and High Point. He retired in 1994 as a travel consultant but continued to participate in various humanitarian projects in Russia until 2004. In retirement, Charlie has concentrated on writing, his avocation. In 2004 "Governor Alexander Martin" was published. In 2009 he published History of a Dream Deferred" and (a novel) "Pine House." The Rodenboughs live in Greensboro, NC and have 4 children and eight grandchildren.
