Sherry Laymon is a native Arkansan whose books and articles focus on Arkansas, Southern, and American history. She earned a doctorate degree from Arkansas State University in 2005. Her dissertation, PFEIFFER COUNTRY: THE TENANT FARMS AND BUSINESS ACTIVITIES OF PAUL PFEIFFER IN CLAY COUNTY, ARKANSAS 1902-1954, was published by Butler Center Books, (Little Rock) in April 2009, and FEARLESS, JOHN L MCCLELLAN, UNITED STATES SENATOR was published by Tate Publishing (Mustang, Oklahoma) in November 2011. Her articles, JOHN MCCLELLAN AND THE ARKANSAS RIVER NAVIGATION PROJECT and ARKANSAS'S DARK AGES: THE STRUGGLE TO ELECTRIFY ARKANSAS won the Arkansas Historical Association's Violet Gingles Award in 2010 and 2011, respectively. She has other works in the publication process.
