J. Steven Babbit

Since the Six Day War of June 1967, Steve Babbit's life-long interest in modern Israel inspired him to study the history of ancient Israel, Biblical Scriptures, and the Hebrew language. In 1971, less than a year after graduating from high school, he was living and working in Israel.

In 1975, Babbit began his professional career in secondary public education. During his 32 years as a public school teacher, he taught middle school, high school and university summer extension classes in a wide variety of subjects.

In 1984, Babbit studied Biblical Hebrew at Talbot Theological Seminary in La Mirada, California. He later studied Modern Hebrew at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel.

Since his first trip in 1971, Steve has spent many of his summers in and around Jerusalem. In 1984, Babbit lived for a summer among Christian Arabs in the West Bank town of Ramallah. In 2003 he studied Modern Hebrew at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. These first-hand experiences have provided insight into the cultural, religious and political environment of the Holy Land, past and present.
