June Roman

June Roman embodies an odd twist of ambiguities: she loves designing jewelry although she rarely wears any, feels at ease with pen and paper yet her spelling may be suspect and possesses an innate talent to manipulate color in the most moving and intriguing ways even though a brief stint in a color theory class proved disastrous. Oh and one more thing, she owns a cat named Ricko despite the fact that animals are really not her "thing".

She is a teacher, mixed media artist, jewelry designer and writer who resides outside the Atlanta metropolitan area. She entered the worlds of jewelry design and mixed media relatively late in life. After years of experimenting with a farrago of art media, it wasn't until her sister introduced her to the new "hobby" of beading, that she uncovered her true calling. Shortly thereafter she began art journaling which fulfilled an intense desire to experiment with any manner of color and art media. The combination of jewelry design and art journaling affords her the opportunity to convey her unique creative style.

June is at her finest somewhere between the midnight hour and just before sunrise, alone in her studio accompanied by a distinct collection of beads, decorative papers, paints, pastels, clay and fibers. A String of Expression- Transforming Art and Life into Jewelry is her first book. In 2007, June's jewelry was accepted into the Rhode Island School of Design Museum's Recycled Runway Fashion Show. Her work has also been published in the book, I,000 Jewelry Inspirations by Sandra Salamony as well as Southern Distinction and Bell Amoire Jewelry magazines. Check out her blog at:
