Michael J. Worden is an award winning true crime author, retired decorated law enforcement officer, and researcher and author. He is also a long-time paranormal researcher and investigator in the Hudson Valley.
He is the author of two historical true crime books: the two time award winning Lynched by a Mob! The 1892 Lynching Robert Lewis in Port Jervis, New York, published in May 2022, and the 2013 book, The Murder of Richard Jennings: the True Story of New York’s First Murder for Hire. He is also the author of Ghost Detective, which is a fascinating exploration of his experiences as a paranormal investigator.
Michael has worked with well-known paranormal investigator Linda Zimmermann. They have investigated hundreds of locations, ranging from private homes to places such as Eastern State Penitentiary and the Lizzy Borden House. His first book, Ghost Detective, which is focused on his experiences as a paranormal investigator, was published in October 2009. Michael's own interests in the paranormal can be traced to his childhood.

His first book in this genre, The Murder of Richard Jennings, is an in-depth and fascinating exploration of the first murder for hire in New York State. His recently released book "Lynched by a Mob" is a thorough investigation into the unsolved murder of Robert Lewis, who was lynched in Port Jervis, New York, in 1892.
Michael serves as the Deerpark Town Historian and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Minisink Valley Historical Society. When he isn’t delving into true crimes, he enjoys a variety of other pursuits, including special effects make-up, studying World War 2, and listening to music. He is an avid traveler and has visited twenty countries with a particular fondness for Finland and Scandinavia.
Worden is a proficient speaker and has given numerous lectures on the paranormal and true crimes. He has also been a featured commentator on paranormal television programming, including two seasons of Hotel Paranormal hosted by Dan Ackroyd, and an episode of Mysteries at the Museum.
