GP Cheplick is retired from the City University of New York where he taught Ecology, Evolution & Botany courses at the undergraduate level as well as Community Ecology & Population Ecology at the graduate level. His area of expertise is plant ecology, especially focused on members of the grass family. He has worked with fungal endosymbionts & their effects in grasses and also studied the plant communities of the Staten Island beaches along with students. For entertainment, he reads sci-fi, plays guitar & writes songs, listens to music, watches football, and walks in the woods. Many years ago, he was the drummer for the obscure Pennsylvanian garage rock band "Drywater", whose '70s album "Backbone of the Nation" is now a collector's item!
