Pearl Harris

Pearl Harris, whose ancestors hail from Britain, was born in 1945 in Vryburg, in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. She grew up on her parents' farms in the Vryburg and East London districts where she spent most of her life before emigrating to the Czech Republic in 2002 with her husband, their dog and cat.

Pearl is a travel addict and has no intention of ever giving up this habit. She has travelled widely in Europe, Africa, the U.S.A. and the U.K. Besides travel, her passions are animals, reading, writing and photography.

Having finished her schooling at Clarendon Girls' High School and training in Diagnostic Radiography at the Frere Hospital in East London, South Africa, Pearl went on to obtain a B.A. in English and Linguistics, a post-graduate Diploma in Translation and TEFL qualification.

At present, she is a freelance writer, English proofreader and German-English translator in the Czech Republic. Her numerous travel articles have been published online at www.TransitionsAbroad.com and www.TimeTravel-Britain.com, as well as in magazines, such as "Diversions" (South Africa) and "Bridge" (Prague).

Pearl's only daughter, Tanya Linnegar, having obtained a BFA in Photography at Emily Carr University, Vancouver, Canada, now lives and works as an English teacher in Prague.
