Abbe Michaels

Abbe Michaels began her writing, music, and film career in NYC's East Village in the early 1980's. In 1985, she met Margo Howard-Howard at the infamous St. Mark's Poetry Project. One day Margo stunned her by popping a cassette into a cheap tape player and began reciting her marvelous life story, intriguingly titled "I Was a White Slave in Harlem." Four years later,

after interviewing a bevy of Margo's closest comrades, she co-wrote the critically-acclaimed book, published in 1988 by Four Walls Eight Window.

A motion picture feature is being developed in 2010.
