Irina Kuzminsky

Born in Australia into a White Russian emigre family Irina is a poet, dancer and singer who passionately believes in the transformative power of the poetic word and in an art which would add not to the woundedness of the world but rather to its healing by becoming a bridge into spiritual consciousness. Irina combines wide-ranging performance experience in dance, recitals, opera, cross-arts collaborations and dance theatre with an academic background which includes scholarships to Germany and then to Oxford, where she wrote her doctorate on the "Language of Women", and was elected Junior Research Fellow in Humanities at Wolfson. At the most personal level her art and her whole life are centred around the desire to rediscover and reconnect with the divine feminine in all of its manifestations. Poetry and dance are both a part of and an expression of that journey.

Irina's poems and articles have been published in England,the US and Australia in Acumen, Poetrix, Caduceus, Arts and Academic Review, Devi, Phoebe, Women's Art Register and Dance Australia, and her poetry has been set to music by Kevin George Brown, Amanda Lee Falkenberg and James D'Angelo. "Dancing with Dark Goddesses" published by Awen is her first poetry collection and combines dance images with poetry.
