When Pat was 22 she changed her life forever by selling everything she owned and moved 2,500 miles away to a city she'd never been to, where she knew no one. Coming from a sheltered life, she spent the next 8 years doing her own wild and crazy thing. She roamed the good and bad streets of Los Angeles, doing things that in retrospect were probably downright idiotic. Like nearly everyone else who makes the trip, she went to Hollywood to be reinvented. Knowing nothing about this city (or any big city) she made the brilliant decision to get a cheap apartment. She found one, in the heart of a crime-ridden section of Hollywood she later found out was called a war zone by the LAPD. There were stabbings and assaults every weekend. Her books grew out of those sometimes dark, always fascinating days.

Her favorite crime authors are Michael Connelly, Jonathan Kellerman, Robert Crais, Robert Ellis, Stephen J. Schwartz and James Elroy who in their own unique way all capture that wonderful city, Los Angeles.
