Gianni A. Sarcone

Gianni A. Sarcone is an optical artist, visual researcher, and author whose work explores how we see and interpret the world around us.

For more than 30 years, he has created visual experiments that reveal how the brain processes images, patterns, and illusions. By combining art, perception science, and visual thinking, his work shows how easily our eyes can be fooled—and how fascinating the mechanisms of vision can be.

Sarcone has authored more than sixty books on optical illusions, visual perception, and creative thinking. His books have been translated into over fifteen languages and are widely used by educators, publishers, and science communicators around the world.

In 2018, his book "Optical Illusions" received the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize for its contribution to science communication for young readers.

He is also co-founder of Archimedes Lab, a creative network dedicated to exploring imagination, perception, and inventive thinking.

Outside his creative work, Sarcone practices Taekwondo and Jujitsu and enjoys cooking for friends.
