Anthony Padgett

Anthony Padgett (www.AnthonyPadgett.co.uk) is an author with an MA in the Theory of Contemporary Art from Wimbledon School of Art. He has given numerous talks at galleries and universities and has published papers on his ideas. His art has featured on BBC Radio 4, the Guardian, the Times Educational Supplement, The Mail on Sunday, Press TV.

Anthony has 15 years of experience in art, religion and archaeology. He is currently self-employed as an artist, writer and teacher.

He is a descendent of Oswald Wolfe, brother of poet Humbert Wolfe.

1990 - 1997. Anthony studied Philosophy before teaching Religious Education and then becoming a sculptor and stone conservator, working in London and then in the Holy Land for the Israeli Antiquities Authority and the Palestinian Department of Antiquities.

1998 - 2004. On returning to England he became a full-time artist mounting exhibitions and giving talks at the Studio Art School in New York, at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London and at Tate Modern. His award winning sculpture "Zoroastrian Icarus" sculpture was sited at Leighton Hall, Carnforth, Lancashire (www.millennium-angel.co.uk).

2005 -2007. Disappointed at the bias against religious art in the contemporary art world Anthony mounted an Employment Tribunal Case of Religious Discrimination against Mr Tony Blair, Sir Nicholas Serota and the Trustees of the Tate Galleries, 2005 - 2007.

Present - After the case was dismissed by the Court of Appeal on a technicality Anthony turned to writing in the day, funded by teaching dance classes in the evening.
