Amelia Garripoli

Amelia Garripoli (1966-) was born in England but left soon thereafter when her parents emigrated to America in 1968. She had the typical east-coast American childhood of public school, PB&J's, the Bicentennial (1976), and all that, along with the occasional trip to grandparents in England. Amelia grew up knitting, sewing, and doing a variety of crafts, but didn't learn to spin until 2001, when she purchased a home that came with two llamas. Since then, she's been spinning up a storm, learning, teaching, and writing on her blog http://askthebellwether.blogspot.com/ as well as articles for KnittySpin, Spin-Off, Yarn Magazine, and other publications.

The small print run of Amelia's first book, British Tea Cosies (2001, written as Amelia Carlson), was quickly sold out; once out of print, Fiber Trends picked up two of the patterns for their knitting pattern line, Nanny Meier's Tea Cosy and The Braided Cable Tea Cosy. Her second book, Spindling: The Basics (2003, four printings) is now a cult classic with over a thousand copies sold in her own Learn to Spin Kits. Productive Spindling (2009) is Amelia's first full-length book with its own ISBN and everything. Amelia looks forward to a bright future as a teacher and writer, and continuing to enjoy the accolades of her students and readers.
