Lorette C. Luzajic is an artist, writer, educator, and editor from Toronto, Canada. Her mostly ekphrastic prose poetry and small stories have appeared widely in hundreds of literary journals and a dozen anthologies, including Axon Journal, Bending Genres, Trampset, Unbroken, Grain, Cleaver, New Flash Fiction Review, The Dillydoun Review, The Fiddlehead, Cultural Weekly, MacQueen's Quinterly, Indelible Journal, JMWW, Brilliant Flash Fiction, Flash Boulevard, South Florida Poetry Review, and more. She wrote a longtime column Wine and Art at Good Food Revolution, and now writes for GFR on food in lore and art history in Eat. Play. Rove.
Lorette won first place in a flash fiction contest at MacQueen's Quinterly, and has been nominated for Best Microfiction, Best Small Fictions, and four times each for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net.
She is the founder and editor of The Ekphrastic Review, the flagship journal of ekphrasis. She teaches popular ekphrastic and art appreciation workshops through the journal and has been a guest speaker for online workshops including the Dubai Festival of Literature, the University of Singapore, the Bath Flash Fiction Festival, the Kutztown Arts Institute, and Women in Visual and Literary Arts Texas. She regularly teaches mixed media art at the Centre For Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada.
Lorette C. Luzajic is also an internationally exhibited, award-winning visual artist. Her art has appeared in galleries, museums, banks, fairs, hotels, laundromats, restaurants, cafes, nightclubs, as a prop on reality TV, as a 20 foot billboard in New Orleans, on the Savvy Artist podcast, on the Marilyn Denis Show, on the cover of two textbooks, and at the Royal Ontario Museum. In 2017, she participated by invitation at an international contemporary art symposium in North Africa. In 2018, she won first place for best painting, earning a $5000 award from Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. In 2019, her painting was featured in a magazine ad campaign for Madrid-based luxury jewelry brand Carrera Y Carrera. She was a juror for the Australian Boynes International Emerging Artist Awards in 2021. She has collectors in thirty countries so far, including France, Argentina, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Italy, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, and beyond.
