John C Loving

John Loving was an infantry officer in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He went to Vietnam in 1969 as Senior Advisor of a six man combat advisory team in Tay Ninh Province. While serving in this challenging position, he was decorated three times by the South Vietnamese Government for valor in combat, and was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action by the US Army. After the war, he served in the Army Reserves for four years, achieving the rank of Captain. He is a graduate of the University of Richmond, where he received a Bachelors of Arts Degree and a Master of Commerce.

The author currently lives in Raleigh, NC, where he writes books and develops real-estate. His first book, "Combat Advisor; How America Won the War and Lost the Peace in Vietnam," has been hailed as a riveting tale of one soldier’s personal war experience as well as a revealing account of the successes and failures of the US advisory effort during the Vietnam War. "Combat Advisor" has been used by the US Army at Ft. Benning Ga. as part of its training of US advisors for Iraq.

John’s latest book, "A Soldier’s Faith; Spiritual Lessons from the Battlefield," is a unique blend of real combat action and spiritual revelation born on the battlefield. This inspiring book also explores related issues of just war philosophy, leadership, and post war stress, while describing the author’s personal lifetime faith journey.
