Dr. Ellen Spain worked for the United States government for over twenty-five years in investigations and management when she decided to become a novelist, returning to graduate school to complete a Masters' in Writing fiction and into content editing and novel writing. Ellen writes romances set in mystery with a speculative science theme, and paranormal stories with settings near her childhood home on Great Duck Island, Maine, or in Nova Scotia, or basically any place in the world to where she has traveled.
Dr. Spain was/is professionally active in RWA, EPIC, PARSEC, PennWriters, SCBWI, a judge for the Young Voices Foundation, and Founder/Coordinator of the PennWriters' Pittsburgh East Writers. Ellen's volunteer work and financial support included the historical society, the library, the foodbank, her graduate universities, Animal Rescue, St. Joseph's Indian School for Lakota children, public television, Habitat for Humanity, and AmeriCares. Dr. Spain maintained her professional website EllenSpain.com from 2008 to present, which includes her detailed biography, her photography albums, travels, and her study in (NDE) Near-Death-Experience.
When asked who inspired her to become a novelist, she replied, "My loving and devoted parents now in heaven, Ella and William Bigenho, and my husband and soulmate, Dr. Harry Spain."
